Tata Motors has just introduced the micro SUV Tata Punch EV facelift with an updated design, new colors, and a longer range. It will compete with the Citroen eC3 and Tata’s own Tata Tiago EV. It is placed under one of the most value-for-money electric cars.
Tata Motors is offering this model with two starting ex-showroom price options. The regular price is ₹9.69 lakh, where you own the EV along with the battery. The second option is priced at ₹6.49 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. In this model, you buy and own the car but not the battery, and you pay an EMI of ₹2.6 per km. We will discuss BAAS in more detail later in the article.

Confusion About BaaS Pricing?
In EV cars, the largest cost component is the battery, which makes the on-road price much higher than that of traditional fuel vehicles. Buyers are also worried about what will happen after the battery warranty ends. To solve this issue, the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model has been introduced. It is a type of vehicle ownership where the battery is excluded from the vehicle.

In short, you buy and own the car, but not the battery. You pay for the battery on a subscription or per-kilometre basis, which allows EV buyers to purchase the car at a lower cost. You can also swap the battery at charging stations. All maintenance and replacement of the battery are handled by the company.
The Tata Punch EV facelift is priced at ₹6.49 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, where you pay ₹2.6 per km as an EMI.
Battery Pack and Range
Punch Facelift is equipped with two battery options. One is a 40 kWh battery, which is claimed to offer 468 km, while delivering 355 km in real-world C75 conditions. The other is a 30 kWh battery, which gives you a real-world range of up to 275 km. Tata has discontinued the old 25 kWh and 35 kWh batteries.
Punch supports 65 kW DC charging with the 40 kWh battery. Tata Motors claims that with 65 kW DC fast charging, the 2026 Punch EV Facelift can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in 26 minutes, and with 15 minutes of charging, you will get 135 km of range.
If we talk about charger options, Punch supports both AC and DC charging. A 3.3 kW AC charger is standard, and Tata also offers a 7.2 kW AC charger. For DC, 65 kW is available.

There are three driving modes – Eco, City, and Sport – in the higher variants, while the base variant gets only Eco and City modes. Tata claims the Punch accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9 seconds.
